S. after the Great Depression had hit because of inflation throughout the rest of the states. After all of that had taken place and the Great Depression was ending and during the 1960’s the depression was coming to an abrupt stop. At this time, the Dargens family business was starting to prosper again and spread out through the United States. While all this was happening. David Dargen had moved to a small town known as Necedah in the state of Wisconsin. There his grandfather had owned a Saloon known as Old Whippersnappers. This restaurant had a huge reputation for drunks occupying it. After so many prolonged years, the Saloon was unfortunately shut down due to financial reasons. While all of this was happening, David Dargen decided to create the restaurant into an Italian restaurant to compete with Becerras Pizzeria that was in the middle of town. His wife Angela Dargen had accepted the task of managing the restaurant and taking care of the upkeep that was required for this type of establishment. To skip ahead several months, the restaurant had become a huge success and people were starting recognize its popularity. As David started to see the restaurant prosper and grow, a customer named Delaney Jarvis had come in to eat with a few of her colleagues from the Beauty Salon in town. She was the Daughter of one of the Becerras and she had heard about its all time success over the several months. She began to examine the establishment alongside her friends. Angela (Davids Wife) approached her and asked if shed like something to eat and drink. Delaney observed Angela and spoke with an eerie sound saying Quite. Angela started to walk toward one of the best seats in the house and pulled all 3 chairs out. Delaney ordered a chicken and steak skillet with habanero and banana peppers added to the top. Delaney took one bite of the food and it was if she had remembered back at the Saloon back in 1915. The magnificent features to the food were exhilarating to her and astonishing as well. The restaurant unfortunately got shut down after a good run of about 35 years as the Dargen family relatives took over from generation to generation and carried out the restaurants famous name, until the restaurant was losing business from Necedah advancing and building a Subway and an A W right in town. The aftermath of this restaurant still stands in Necedah today as the Red Hen antique shop and the famous Dargen name was never carried out passed them. One of the biggest reasons why this was was because of the low income to the restaurant as well as tampering with the food from the very few cooks that worked there. The restaurant was hiring new employees and couldn’t find business as much as they tried because of the bad reputation that it had built for itself. They all had lived in a separate room that was apart of the restaurant but upstairs. Triangle Love Intimacy Triangle of Love Robert J. Sternberg, psychologist and dean of the Tufts School of Arts and Sciences proposed a triangular theory of love that suggests that there are three components of love: intimacy, passion, and commitment. Different combinations of these three components result in different types of love. For example, a mixture of intimacy and commitment results in compassionate love, while a mixture of passion and intimacy leads to passionate love. Sternberg often said, â€Å"relationships built on two or more elements are more enduring that those based upon a single component† [Tufts p 19]. Sternberg uses the term consummate love to describe a combination of intimacy, passion, and commitment. While this type of love is the strongest and most enduring, Sternberg suggests that this type of love is rare. He wrote that even as a teenager he was intrigued by the mystery of why some relationships succeed while others fail. This is why early in his academic career he developed an explanation, which he calls the â€Å"triangular theory of love.† His theory is based on the observation â€Å"that love consists of three components . . . intimacy, passion, and commitment. Different combinations and strengths of those three ingredients,† Sternberg says, â€Å"produce different kinds of love.† [Tufts p. 20] Intimacy is the feelings in a relationship that promote closeness, bonding, and connecting with one another. Passion is what drives the romance, physical attraction, and sexual consummation in a loving relationship. Commitment consists of two parts.   The first is a short-term aspect in which you make the decision that you love another person and the second part is the long-term aspect in which you decide to commit to a long-term relationship and maintaining the love for that person over a long period of time [Everything2]. Sternberg also gives a detailed explanation of the types of love. â€Å"Infatuated love†, for example, is all passion, without intimacy or commitment. Romantic love has passion and intimacy but lacks commitment. â€Å"Companionate love,† he says, â€Å"results when we have only intimacy and commitment, as in a long-term deep friendship.† The kind of love that embodies all three components he calls â€Å"consummate love† [Tufts p.21]. Sternberg uses the triangle to describe different way we evolve to being in love. Each side of the triangle represents the proportion of each component with respect to the other two. The shape of the triangle that Sternberg uses is supposed to symbolize the balance between intimacy, passion and commitment, because it is equal on all sides. This is the kind of love we all hope for at one point and time. It is also the kind of love we tend to associate with living a life full of love and happiness. Sternberg acknowledges that few human relationships can maintain this perfect balance indefinitely, yet many relationships succeed in the face of enormous obstacles because both parties highly value consummate love, seek it out and work hard to maintain it. [Tufts p. 21] Sternberg wanted his theory of love to show us true love should develop, but it also meant to be used as to show us how we can develop loving and caring relationships with everyone that is apart of our life. In his study of human relationships, Sternberg discovered that â€Å"couples tended to be happier when they had more of the three components of love. And it helped if their love triangles matched in size and shape—that is, if the amount and kind of love each partner felt for the other was about the same.† [Tufts p. 21] I think that the love triangle is great. When the intensity of love shared by two people is great, so is the area of the love triangle and vice versa. However, the greater a specific component of love, like passion, the further the point from the center of the triangle will be to that component. This is why the shape of the love triangle is reliant on the strength of the different workings of love. The shape of the triangle will and should evolve over time. We may achieve such perfect forms of love as consummate love, but we all know that perfect of love is hard to maintain over time because to sustain it, we must nourish all of its components. The more a couple works on keeping the three components of consummate love in balance and nourished, the more likely such a love will be maintained for a long period of time. Love its self is so strong. I have been â€Å"in love† a few times. When I did this writing assignment I realize that I was not really in love until I met my husba nd. I took the triangle and compared the components to my past relationships and there is no comparison to what I have now. In society today, when someone mentions the word â€Å"Love† it is guaranteed that at least half the people surrounding you will shudder. Whether it is through observation or experience, people have come to learn that love is far from being the ideal state in which one should live in and, for that matter; many choose to stay away from it. This type of boyfriend is the lowest of all boyfriends, and if you are this guy then you need to understand that she will eventually get a backbone and dump you. The next ty pe is the decent boyfriend; this is the boyfriend that tries sometimes. He tries to understand what she wants and needs and tries to give it to her.He doesn't know exactly what she wants but tries to please her with whatever he does know. The last type of boyfriend would be prince charming.Obviously this guy is a catch and women would love to have him as a boyfriend. He's not without some faults but when it comes to their relationship he puts more effort in then the other guys. His traits would include: he understands what she needs emotionally, he communicates well which includes both talking and listening, he doesn't lie or use her but instead shares his life with her, he is patient with her and her emotions and he is always there for her to lean on. Of course there are many other types of boyfriends but these are the main three that I have found that my past boyfriends have fallen under, except prince charming. I have not yet found him but one day I'll know exactly who he is from dating the other type of boyfriends. Every girl goes through having a bad boyfriend and a decent boyfriend but you only date one prince charming.
